Students 16 and younger are required by the state of Wisconsin to obtain a work permit before starting any job.
Work Permit Directions Starting Now
Unlike the previous process to get a permit through the main office, parents can now log on to the Department of Workforce Development page and use their permit application tool. Here is the link: Work Permit.
This new system will allow you to apply for a permit 24/7 from any computer, tablet or phone. You will make your payment through the system as well. The department will mail a paper copy of the permit directly to your student's employer.
Please note: this is the only means of receiving a work permit. Our main offices can no longer process work permits, however, families who need computer or internet access to complete the form online can visit the main office for access to both.
