Opportunities for 9th — 12th Grade Students

Respecting the diversity among people and cultures is one of Oconomowoc Area School District’s strategic directions, designed to broaden students horizons. As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, we believe it is more important than ever to give our students the opportunity to better understand themselves and others in the world around them. We partnered with EF Educational Tours to provide global experiences to allow our students to expand their cultural awareness and global perspectives, while helping them develop the confidence and leadership skills necessary for success in the 21st century.

Service learning travel opportunities are available for 9-12th grade students.

Service learning travel opportunities will help students experience meaningful service, cultural immersion and leadership development.

OASD has partnered with EF Educational Tours to be our travel guides for service learning. 

What is global service learning?

Around the world, countless communities deal with hunger, education inequality, poverty and other global challenges. On a Service Learning Tour, teachers and students work side-by-side with local residents to help tackle global challenges—forming new cultural connections and empowering communities for generations to come.

High School Service Learning Tours

High school students can participate in global travel with a focus on service learning. OHS students will participate in many educational experiences before, during and after the trip. In addition, the group is always accompanied by a district employee, trained and experienced in international travel and service.

High School Students - Global Scholars Program

All students at OHS are invited to participate in The Global Scholars Program. Service Learning Travel can be part of the program.

This program focuses and validates the excellent global education learning opportunities already in place at OHS, encourages students to enroll in classes with global content in the arts, sciences, and humanities, and prepares globally competent students who are career ready. The program requires four components: curriculum, cultural literacy, co-curricular / school sponsored activities, and a service learning project, all of which must have a global focus. Students who participate in the certificate program will distinguish themselves from their peers in terms of their maturity and deep understanding of the world and global issues when competing in the college admissions process and in the workplace.
