Oconomowoc High School (OHS) is proud to offer educational opportunities through the International Baccalaureate® (IB). Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation offering highly respected programmes of international education that develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Accelerated Courses

The high standards implicit in the IB course content and the IB assessments assume high levels of achievement, effort, and preparation in grades 9-10. The purpose of the accelerated courses at OHS is to refine students’ skills and build an academic foundation that prepares students for success in the IB courses. OHS offers the following IB courses:

Cost and Admission Requirements

The IBO requires a fee for the IB courses and examinations. The assessments take place in the final year of an IB course, and the IB course fees are included in the student’s registration fees for that year. IB assessment fees are approximately $122 per course. The cost for a 2021 IB Diploma (six courses) is approximately $732. There is no formal application for the IB Diploma Programme or individual IB courses. Any interested student may pursue the IB Diploma or the IB Course offerings.

OHS IB Policies

IB Career-Related Programme (CP)

The CP is a framework of international education that incorporates the values of the IB into a unique program addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education. CP students undertake a minimum of two IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses, a core consisting of four components and a career-related study. The DP courses provide the theoretical underpinning and academic rigor of the program. The career-related study further supports the program's academic strength and provides practical, real-world approaches to learning. The CP core helps them to develop skills and competencies required for lifelong learning.

Individual IB Course Option

Students may take individual IB courses and receive scores for the courses and examinations they successfully complete. Most colleges award credit for successful completion of HL courses. Some colleges award credit for both HL and SL courses. Refer to the individual college IB credit policies for more specific information.
