Course Request Process for the Next School Year
The scheduling process is an exciting part of defining your high school experience. At OHS, we offer more than 200 classes that can help you explore topics of interest, several programs that may help you learn more about potential career-focused learning opportunities, and hands-on experiences that allow you to apply your interests in real-world settings. Step 1: Review the Academic & Career Planning Guide
Review graduation requirements and read course descriptions thoroughly. Refer to your Xello Goals and Plans to help guide which courses to take each year at OHS.
Step 2: Complete the Course Request Form
- Students are encouraged to select 8 credits and 6 alternate courses.
- Course request forms must be signed by a parent/guardian.
Step 3: Students enter course requests via Skyward Family Access
ALL student schedules will be released in August during registration.
OASD Graduation Requirements
- English: 4 Credits (must include English 9, English 10, English 11, or AP Language or IB English I)
- Math: 3 Credits (must include Algebra)
- Science: 3 Credits (must include Biology and at least one Physical Science: Chemistry or Physics)
- Social Studies: 3 Credits (must include Humanities or AP Human Geography)
- Physical Education: 1.5 Credits
- Fine Arts: .5 Credit (select from Art, Music, Dance, Theatre)
- Personal Finance: .5 Credit
- Career and Tech Ed (CTE): .5 Credit
- Health: .5 Credit
- Electives: 9.5 Credits
- Total: 26 Credits
- *Students must pass the civics exam prior to graduation

Freshmen
Freshmen and their parents/guardians are invited to attend Family Dinners in August. All freshmen participate in Raccoon Prep ACP workshops throughout the school year and the Freshmen Day of Service in the fall. Academic and career goals will be explored through our Xello program.
Sophomores
Sophomore students and parents/guardians will meet individually with their counselor. This meeting will focus on Academic and Career Plans (ACPs), which include career and college preparation using their Xello account.
Juniors
Juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to attend Career and College Readiness Workshops in August. Juniors meet in small groups to discuss post-secondary options and senior year planning. During these meetings, juniors will use Xello to set goals, research post-high school options, and build their resume. Juniors will take the state ACT test in early March.
Seniors
In the fall, seniors meet in small groups to review their Academic and Career Plan as it relates to career planning, the college application process, as well as scholarship exploration. Senior Pathway Night is also held in early fall to review the post-secondary transition process for each of the five career pathways.
