This 5K-4th grade student service group works to create a better Oconomowoc by participating in Salvation Army events, raising funds for Pennies for Patients, creating blankets for the children at our local hospitals, facilitating our Park Lawn food drive, partnering with local senior citizens to play games and read books and sending cards and well wishes to our hero’s overseas.

Our Peer Mediation program provides students the opportunity to learn how to deal with problems THEMSELVES. Peer Mediators are trained to use such skills as active listening, brainstorming, and using 'I' messages in order to help other students resolve conflicts. This is the third year for the Peer Mediation program at Park Lawn. Currently, students in grades 3 and 4 serve as Peer Mediators on our playground as well as in their classrooms. We feel this program continues to be successful in helping students learn how to resolve conflicts in a safe manner and to create a win-win situation for all students involved.

We have one of the best Safety Patrol programs in the state. Our patrol members are on duty before and after school, during lunch, and at special events every day of the school year. Fourth grade patrol members have an opportunity to become positive peer role models, leaders, responsible citizens, and an active part in our school environment. Our Safety Patrol has received rewards from the Wisconsin Law Officers Associations.

The Park Lawn Today Show is our in-house television broadcast announcing our Park Lawn daily activities. Included in these announcements is the Pledge of Allegiance, the morning’s headlines, a weather forecast, daily lunch choices and student birthdays to name just a few. We have a monthly cast of fourth grade students who are our Today Show anchors, weathermen and Wednesday morning workout guru’s. Behind the scenes, students are busy being producers, stage managers and sound/video mixers. Each broadcast begins with our Park Lawn Today Show logo and music, and ends with a reminder for all students to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe, our PBIS school goals. This morning show is a long standing tradition at Park Lawn that continues with great contribution from the OPEF Broadcast Technology Grant.

Park Lawn students participate in 3 Special Olympic sports: bowling, basketball skills, and athletics. All 3 sports are individual sports where each athlete competes against other athletes of a similar ability level. The athletes strive to improve their skills throughout the season. Each sport has an area meet where all eligible athletes compete. The athletes who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd advance to a state meet. The bowling sport also has a regional meet before athletes advance to the state level.

The Wonder Fair is an opportunity for your child to develop a question about any subject, research it, collect evidence, draw a conclusion, and share their findings with our Park Lawn friends and families. This club does not meet as a group, rather, individuals meet with their advisor to discuss their ideas and check-in on progress. The Wonder Fair is an event not to be missed! With about 120 participants each year from grades K-4, this spring event brings the most creative and innovative student projects to our school.
